How to classify unsaturated resin?

The type of unsaturated polyester resin is a trademark of Quito.

Divided from the function of the product, it can be divided into:

a) General-purpose resin General-purpose resins are mainly o-phenyl unsaturated polyester resins, and also include partially isophthalic unsaturated resins. They are mostly used for hand-paste glass fiber reinforced plastic products.

b) Heat-resistant resins require unsaturated polyester resins to be used at high temperatures, and general-purpose resins with lower heat distortion temperatures are not suitable. Heat distortion temperatures of heat-resistant resins should not be lower than 110°C at higher temperatures. There is a higher intensity preservation rate.

c) Chemical resistant resins These resins have excellent corrosion resistance and water resistance. Commercial resins are mainly bisphenol A unsaturated resins, vinyl resins, isophthalic unsaturated polyester resins, and halogenated polyester resins. .

d) Flame-retardant resin The flame-retardant resin uses a component that can attack flame-retardant (self-extinguishing) when it is composed, for example, a tetralinphthalein anhydride and an acetic acid anhydride (HET anhydride) instead of a benzene anhydride.

e) Weather-resistant resin This type of resin utilizes neopentyl glycol and methacrylic esters to cross-link single-lifts and increase UV absorbers to improve the weather resistance and light stability of the resin. The transparency of the resin is good, and the refractive index of the resin cast body used may be near or in common with the refractive index of the glass fiber.

f) High-strength resin This kind of resin has high strength and toughness, and is mainly used for composite materials prepared by the fiber wrapping process.

g) Gel coat resin is used on the outer surface of the composite material to improve the appearance (prettyness), quality, and service life of the product.


In accordance with the application requirements, gel coat resins are mainly divided into the following categories:

1 General-purpose gel coat: Resistant to boiling water, collision resistance, ginseng or cleaner, with outstanding appearance luster.

2 chemical resistant gel coat: used for the appearance of corrosion-resistant products;

3 light stable gel coat: excellent weather resistance;

4 Gel coat for food containers

h) SMC or BMC special resin Such resins have: 1 low viscosity; 2 thickening fast; 3 high activity; capable of rapid curing; 4 stable function within a few months after participating in initiators and thickeners, And when you manage it, you can cure it quickly.

i) Other types of resins This is a new category in recent years, such as special resins for injection molding, RTM, pultrusion and other processes.
